J D Spicer & Co was founded in 1977 in Kilburn. The firm now has 3 offices two in Kilburn as well as an office in the City of London. The firm is committed to providing a quality service responsive to the needs of all clients both locally and nationally.
The firm acts for clients both on a private basis as well as those who are eligible for public funding formerly known as legal aid. The firm specialises in a number of areas of law including crime, family, immigration, accident cases, probate and conveyancing. The firm has held a franchise with the Legal Services Commission since 1994 evidence to the fact that the firm provides a high quality of service to its clients.
Our main area of work is crime dealing with all aspects of criminal defence work including advising clients arrested at the police station whatever the allegation. We are confident that we are able to advance and protect our client’s rights. We have a 24 hour emergency telephone manned by our staff - 07836 577556. We represent clients at the Magistrates Court on a daily basis dealing with all types of criminal offences. Our Crown Court department specialises in clients facing more serious allegations whether the client is on bail or in custody. We ensure that at all times the client is fully aware of what is happening with their case at every stage of the proceedings. We deal with all types of Crown Court cases including murder, manslaughter, serious assaults, conspiracy, burglary, robbery, terrorism, firearms, offensive weapons, rape, sexual assault and supply and possession of drugs.
The firm is a member of the Serious Fraud Panel, which is now known as the VHCC (Crime) Panel, J D Spicer & Co has significant experience in dealing with a wide range of fraud matters. Our fraud team have specialist experience in defending allegations of money laundering, white-collar crime, DTI, Customs and Excise and Inland Revenue investigations. Our city office is dedicated to dealing with serious fraud matters and the firm has several panel supervisors reflecting our range and depth of experience in this department. We have also developed significant experience in conducting the defence in the most high profile terrorist cases.
We represent clients in all types of serious fraud cases including white collar crime, DSS fraud, serious fraud cases, tax and VAT fraud, DTI Customs and Excise Inland Revenue investigations.
The firm also provides advice in all matters relating to family law including childcare work and members of the family team are also on the Law Society Childcare Panel. The firm deals with all types of family issues both for clients paying privately as well as those who qualify for public funding.
Our immigration department which is based at all 3 of our offices has a team of immigration lawyers who are experts in that area of law dealing with all aspects of immigration matters for example work permits student visas asylum claims and appeals. The members of the immigration team are also senior accredited caseworkers. We act for clients both on a private paying basis as well as those clients qualifying for public funding.
We also specialise in acting for clients in a wide range of accident and personal injury claims which include accidents at work, holiday compensation, road traffic accidents, tripping/slipping claims and accidents at home which are the responsibility of the landlord. The partner in charge of the accident department is also a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and that we have recovered damages for our clients in excess of one million pounds.
We also represent clients in a wide range of conveyancing, probate and employment cases.
