Suspended Sentence Drug Supply - Chelmsford Crown Court 2023

Suspended Sentence Drug dealing class A – Chelmsford Crown Court 2023

Our client was charged with 2 offences of supplying Class A drugs and one offence of supplying Class B drugs. He pleaded guilty and his case was committed for sentence to Chelmsford Crown Court. It was alleged that he was involved in the supply of drugs when his vehicle was stopped by the police and drugs were recovered including scales. The police alleged street dealing category 3 deals to drug users.

Our client pleaded guilty on the basis that he was supplying drugs to feed his own habit and to pay off a drug's debt. We were able to obtain substantial personal mitigation concerning our client's personal background and future. This in due course persuaded the court not to order immediate custody.

The sentencing guideline for these offences has a starting point of 3 years imprisonment with a range of between 2 years to 4 years and 6 months imprisonment. After full mitigation he was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment which was suspended for 2 years and ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work . He was also required to carry out 20 days of Rehabilitation Activity requirement. The Judge was persuaded to suspend the sentence due to our client’s lack of previous convictions, medical issues, age and the length of time for the prosecution to charge him for these offences.
