Malik qualified as a solicitor in 2006 and joined JD Spicer Zeb in 2009. In his time here he has established himself as a dedicated member of the team, representing clients in a range of matters heard in both the Magistrates’ and the Crown Court.
Malik is a duty solicitor and qualified to act in the Crown Court. He has a thriving defence practice, both as a led junior and junior alone. Renowned for his fearlessness in court and friendliness outside the court room, he is highly valued by lay and professional clients alike.
His experience has seen him successfully defend his clients in a broad spectrum of cases, ranging from murder, serious violence, drugs, sexual offences, fraud, dishonesty offences and public disorder. He has been described by those who have worked closely with him as a ‘real fighter’. He has excellent judgement and the ability to put even the most anxious client at ease. He is able to get on with people from all backgrounds and cultures. As a result he is regularly instructed on difficult cases involving vulnerable clients and those with mental health difficulties whose case requires an extra degree of empathy and sensitivity.
Malik’s extensive knowledge of law and procedure enables him to provide first class advice and has led to acquittals in many high profile cases. Malik never fails to ensure his clients understand the case against them and his ability to adapt his advice is enviable.
He also achieves consistently good results and is regularly recommended by both his past and present clients. He is instructed by both our private and legally aided clients. Regardless of the situation, Malik provides his clients with an honest and dedicated service and fights to achieve the best outcome possible.
As well as representing clients in both the Magistrates Court and the Crown Court, Malik regularly advises individuals detained at the police station for interview. He also undertakes pro bono work and will try to help those that either have no representation or cannot get any.

"I wanted to thank you so much for representing my Dad yesterday! Not only was it one of the best outcomes we could have hoped for, but more importantly I know that my Dad was calmer and more confident knowing that you were there. As you probably know by now, he can get quite stressed in these type of environments (understandably I guess), and I was primarily worried about his health and stress levels to be honest - and I know that having you there made all the difference. We think you did an absolutely brilliant job, so THANK YOU!" Yaelle Ben-David
