No Further Action - Possession of drugs South Harrow Police Station

Police stopped a vehicle where our client and two others where occupants of the vehicle . On search the police found cannabis in different parts of the vehicle. None of the 3 occupants of the car admitted possession of drugs.

Police used a tactic and pressured our client alone into admitting the offences. Our client maintained he had no knowledge the drugs were in the vehicle or that his friends were in possession.

Our client reluctantly admitted to the officer on body worn video that the drugs were for his personal use. Our client states that at least one of the good cops were not happy about this admission which was forced. His friends were allowed to leave free after this admission. This inevitably led to less paperwork and prisoner processing by the police.

Our client was then de arrested and later invited for a voluntary interview. He sought our advice at the police station interview.

In consultation with our client, our client provided his instructions where he stated that he was pressured by the officer at the time and that was the only reason why he admitted this.

Senior Partner Umar Zeb advised our client to provide a full commented account in interview based on our client instructions and being made to feel under pressure and coerced into admitting to the ownership of the Cannabis.

The client followed our advice and was subsequently no further actioned after his police station interview.

It is important to remember that a confession must be made voluntarily to be admissible. If it’s made as a result of threats, inducements, or oppression, it can be challenged and potentially excluded under PACE.
