Drugs supply Suspended Sentence - Highbury Corner Magistrates Court 2021

Stuart Lloyd advocate represented our client at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court charged with one count of possession with intent to supply class B drugs. The evidence against the client was strong and a large quantity of drugs were involved. The client was categorised as significant role, category 3 on sentencing guidelines with a starting point of 1-year custody, with a custody range of 26 weeks to 3 years. The Crown Prosecution Service advised the District Judge that the case should be sent to the Crown Court for sentence due to the serious nature of the offence. Stuart Lloyd successfully made representations before the District Judge that the case should be dealt with at the Magistrates’ Court. Following a short adjournment for mitigation to be obtained from the client and mitigation prepared by Stuart the client received a 26-week custodial sentence suspended for 2 years. Should this case have been sent to the Crown Court it is likely the client would not have received as  outcome. First-class preparation led to an excellent outcome for our client who can now re build his life.
