Going equipped theft dropped 2023

We acted for a defendant who was charged with going equipped for theft as she was found to be in possession of a foil-lined bag.  Our client pleaded not guilty to the offence that she faced at her first appearance and her case was subsequently adjourned for trial.  To prepare her case for trial we obtained the case papers and analysed the evidence against her.  After looking at the case papers we concluded that this was not in the interest of justice for the CPS to proceed and drafted representations to the CPS to review the case.  Within 2 hours of the CPS receiving the representations the reviewing lawyer sent a notice of discontinuance which means that the client will no longer face trial.

This has resulted in the client not receiving a criminal conviction.
