Knife point robbery - Not Guilty - 2021

James O’Donnell successfully represented a defendant accused of attending an address and robbing the complainants at knife point of £10,000. The defendant was originally represented by the duty solicitor and advised to answer no comment which lead to him being charged and remanded.  Having been refused bail in the crown court he instructed JD Spicer Zeb on a private basis. Within a week we were able to list the matter before the Court for a further bail application and argued a change in circumstances which resulted in bail being granted. Following a detailed defence case statement and numerous disclosure requests, the prosecution accepted that the defendant’s account was credible and that it was unlikely they would be able to achieve a conviction against him.
