Stechford Police Station Case Dropped Representations Pre-Voluntary Surrender

We were contacted by our client on Saturday Morning. He informed us that he was required to attend a voluntary interview but had no understanding of what this was about. Our client stated that the police had advised him that he would be offered an out-of-court disposal. We asked the client to provide us with the officer's contact details, and we managed to contact the officer to find out what the case related to.

The officer disclosed that he had encountered a passer-by while walking on the canal. It was alleged that our client had started slurring threats towards the passer-by while he continued to walk along the canal. The alleged victim then reported this as a public order offence to the police.

After speaking with officers, we immediately informed our client of the circumstances, and he factually disputed the criminal allegations. Our client outright denied the accusations by stating that he previously quit his last place of employment due to being mistreated and that the person he saw on the canal was his ex-colleague. Our client advised us of his personal health conditions and complained about the stress this had caused him. There were no offences committed based on our clients instructions.

We contacted the officer again and explained why no further action should be taken without an interview. The officer heard our submissions and, shortly after, informed us that the sergeant had decided to take no further action against our client.

Our client was left a very happy man, pleased that matters were wrapped up in one day and, lastly, able to sleep that night without having to deal with any stress or anxiety.

Always contact a solicitor if you are required to talk to the police as a suspect for any offence. This case demonstrates how we were able to resolve the case without our client even setting foot in the police station.
