Man Not Guilty Tinder Date Rape - Reading Crown Court
The defendant and complainant met through Tinder dating app and after a while arranged a lunch date.
The defendant met the complainant at her house where it was alleged he raped her and caused her to engage in sexual activity without her consent.
The defendant denied the allegations and gave his account that she had instigated what had happened and that all sexual contact was fully consensual. The defendant left straight away and believed that the complainant was very upset by this and made the allegations as a result.
As the evidence was not strong against the defendant the prosecution was asked to review whether there was a realistic prospect of a conviction. They continued with the prosecution.
The defendant was tried some 4 years after the allegations were made.
Following a 5 day trial where the defendant gave evidence the jury acquitted him of all charges.
