Possession of Class A drugs - Caution after charged 2022

Our private client team were instructed by a professional male working in the finance sector. After being represented by the duty solicitor he was charged with being in possession of class A and bailed to attend Court. The court case was due to be heard soon. Following instructions we acted swiftly, we made detailed representations and were able to persuade the CPS to send the case back to the police for a caution to be administered. Our client was able to avoid a conviction at court which would have undoubtedly impacted his career in finance. We will review cases to ensure that where there is adequate evidence of guilt and an admission, that the police observe guidelines and policies on the use of simple police cautions.
