Sexual Assault Not Guilty - Wood Green Crown Court - 2022

Senior Lawyer Barry Linnane acted for a man in his late 30s who was accused of administering a substance to an 18-year-old man at a bar and  subsequently sexually assaulting him in a  hotel room. We acted for him at the police station stage and secured his best interests. Our client strongly denied the allegation. Police charged him, kept him in custody for court. The CPS objected to bail and tried to remand him in custody. We secured bail. A  strong defence case statement pointing out inconsistences plus weaknesses in the prosecution evidence were out forward. This was followed by verbal representations to the CPS and discussions between defence and prosecution counsel leading to a review  of the prosecution case. The CPS then offered no evidence at court and our client was formally acquitted.
