Not Guilty dangerous driving - Snaresbrook Crown Court 2022

Our client was charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop and driving whilst unfit through drink.  A police helicopter spotted a blue Mercedes C220 driving in excess of the speed limit on the A13  towards the A406. The vehicle was signalled to stop by a marked police vehicle, but failed to do so. The police helicopter followed and recorded the vehicle travelling at speeds of 115 mph whilst undertaking vehicles on the A13. The vehicle was again recorded as speed in excess of 130 mph whilst undertaking and over taking vehicles.

The vehicle crashed on a roundabout and the driver failed to stop at the scene of the accident. The driver was followed by the police helicopter as he jumped over fences and hedgerows. Our client was arrested, detained and pleaded not guilty. The issue was identification. Our client maintained he was not the driver. On the day of trial representation were made to the CPS and no evidence was offered and our client was found not guilty.
