How can we help?
Common questions
We always work with the most experienced and best leading UK barristers, KCs (Kings Counsel). We cover all criminal cases 24/7 at the police station and court. Offices in London, Birmingham, and Manchester cover cases across England and Wales. We can offer Legal Aid and affordable Private fee agreements. We can see you the same day, including virtually. Our Senior Partners supervise all of our cases.
How quickly do you respond?
We respond quickly even during out of hours. We do not get our work by paying for online adverts but based on the fact that few criminal law firms can match our 45 years of experience. Most of our cases are still from word-of-mouth recommendations from satisfied clients. We are called daily by dissatisfied clients from firms with less experience than us. We respond very quickly to new enquiries. We know what clients seek and so we update clients rapidly.
Can you get cases dropped?
Yes, read about the recent cases we've helped our clients with here.
We always keep you updated and give straightforward advice. We will get cases dropped early where the case is weak or should not be prosecuted. We will be upfront with you about where you can benefit from a good result with an early guilty plea, such as a discount on your sentence. As we work on cases across all levels with clients from all walks of life, we are excellent at giving clear, spot-on advice. As an established firm, we can allocate a whole team to your case often at short notice to secure evidence to minimise the damage to you.
Have you won any awards?
OUR PROFESSIONAL BODY THE LAW SOCIETY AWARDED US IN OCTOBER 2020 WITH THE EXCELLENCE IN CLIENT SERVICE AWARD AND STATED -
"JD Spicer Zeb demonstrated a clear commitment to client service through their work with vulnerable and diverse individuals in what can be severely traumatic circumstances".

Are you looking for solicitors specialising in drug offences?
Drug offences are taken very seriously by the police and courts and having a conviction even for simple possession can affect your travel and future job prospects. In some cases, you can also be looking at a substantial prison sentence. If the evidence is strong, we will tell you face to face and in writing so that you can secure what is known as early discount credit for an early guilty plea. Sometimes acting on early advice is what keeps you out of prison. We get suspended prison sentences in real drug cases giving you a second chance with your life and family.
For these reasons, you need committed and experienced drug offence solicitors on your side to advise and represent you, acting with all the necessary skill, speed and expertise to assist you with a robust defence. What are the different types of drug offences?
There are a wide range of drug offences that you could potentially be charged for in the UK. These offences vary in their level of seriousness, and, in some cases, it is possible for multiple charges to be brought forward.
Common examples of drug offences include:
- Possession
- Possession with intent to supply
- Conspiracy to supply
- Production and cultivation
- Importation and exportation
What is the punishment for different drug offences in the UK?
The exact punishment you could receive if you are found guilty of a drug offence will often depend on factors such as the quantity and class of drugs, as well as the surrounding circumstances of your case.
Generally, you could face a more severe punishment for drug offences for more ‘harmful’ classes of drugs. Offences involving Class A drugs are treated more seriously than offences involving Class C drugs, for example.
Pre-charge bail
If you are interviewed under caution for a drug offence, you may be subsequently released on pre-charge bail. Pre-charge bail (often referred to as being released on bail) may be granted in cases where the police require more time to complete their investigation or gather further evidence.
If you are released on pre-charge bail, you will usually be subject to various bail conditions, such as not being able to visit certain places, contact certain people and/or being required to attend the police station on a certain day.

Our dedicated team of criminal solicitors in London, Birmingham and Manchester can provide a quality service at all stages of your criminal proceedings and, in particular, we will ensure that you are guided through each stage of the process and kept fully informed throughout.
We can help you with a wide range of drug related offences, including:
- Possession of drugs
- Possession with intent to supply drugs
- Being concerned in the supply of drugs
- Conspiracy to supply drugs
- Production of drugs and cultivation of cannabis
- Drug trafficking
- Importation of drugs and steroids
- County lines drug dealing offences
- And related offences such as abstracting electricity, money laundering and any ensuing confiscation proceedings.
Possession of drugs
Under Section 5 of the Misuse of Drugs Act (MDA) 1971, it is a criminal offence for a person to have any type of controlled drug in their possession. Our drug offence solicitors have substantial experience in handling cases related to the alleged possession of drugs, so can offer the support you need to secure a positive outcome for your case.
Possession with intent to supply drugs
Where there is evidence that someone is in possession of a controlled drug, and there was an intention to supply it to another person, a charge of possession with intent to supply could be brought forward. This is a serious offence which carries heavy punishments, highlighting the importance of consulting our expert solicitors specialising in drug offences.
Being concerned in the supply of drugs
If it can be demonstrated that you participated in the supply of drugs in any way, you may be accused of being concerned in the supply of drugs. We have a detailed understanding of this offence and can provide you with the representation you need to secure a positive outcome.
Conspiracy to supply drugs
In this context, a conspiracy refers to an agreement to supply drugs, rather than an actual act of supplying drugs. Even if no physical supply of drugs takes place, it is still possible to be accused of conspiracy to supply. Our drug offence solicitors can help build a strong defence against these types of allegations, including conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, Class B drugs and steroids.
Production of drugs and cultivation of cannabis
Manufacturing, cultivating, or using any other method to produce a controlled drug is a serious criminal offence. Our team can help you if you are accused of the production of a drug or the cultivation of cannabis, defending your legal rights and working to secure the best available outcome for your case.
Drug trafficking
Drug trafficking covers various offences, with it generally being understood as being a multi-jurisdiction matter. Actions such as the cultivation, manufacturing, distribution, supply and sale of substances that are subject to strict drug prohibition laws could fall under the umbrella of drug trafficking, which is also closely tied to other forms of serious crime. Laws on drug trafficking are strict, as are the potential sentences, so instructing a specialist drug offence solicitor is key.
Importation of drugs and steroids
Both the importation and exportation of controlled drugs are strictly prohibited. If you are linked with the importation of drugs or steroids it is essential that you have the best legal experts on your side.
County lines drug dealing offences
‘County lines’ refers to the use of children to traffic drugs into rural areas. There are several offences you can be charged with in relation to county lines drug offences, with prison sentences being a distinct possibility in many cases. Our expert drug offence lawyers understand all of the possible defences to county lines drug charges, so can ensure no possible angle of defence is overlooked.
What kind of lawyer do I need for drug charges?
If you are accused of any type of drug offence, it is vital that you work with a lawyer who has specialist expertise in the field. This can help to ensure that you receive the highest standard of legal representation, significantly improving your chances of securing a positive outcome for your case, whether that means avoiding charges or having a sentence minimised where conviction is unavoidable.
